The Wellspring Giving Guarantee
Every donation on Wellspring is protected. In the rare case that something goes wrong, we will refund your donation in full.
How we protect donors
- Identity is verified before money moves. Whoever receives the funds β the organiser, or the beneficiary they are raising for β must complete identity verification before a single withdrawal is possible. A fundraiser can collect donations before that point, but the money stays with us until the destination is confirmed.
- Payouts are reviewed by a person. Withdrawals are not automatic. Our team checks verification status, the fundraiser's standing and any open reports before funds are released.
- Anyone can report a fundraiser. Reports reach our team immediately, and every one is read. If a fundraiser turns out to be fraudulent, we suspend it, hold the funds and contact everyone who donated.
- You are told if something changes. If a fundraiser you supported is suspended while we investigate, we email you β you do not have to find out on your own.
Claiming a refund
If you believe a fundraiser you supported was fraudulent or misused your donation, contact us within 365 days of donating. Include the email address you donated with and the fundraiser's name. We will investigate and, where the claim is upheld, refund you to your original payment method.
What is not covered
The guarantee covers deception and misuse. It does not cover disappointment with how a legitimate fundraiser progressed, a fundraiser that did not reach its goal, or a change of mind after donating.
